ANALISIS MAKNA ONOMATOPE PADA KATA KERJA NAKU ‘MENANGIS’ DALAM “NICHIEI GION-GITAIGO KATSUYOU JITEN” (HIDEICHI ONO, 1984)

Abstract

This study examines onomatopoeia in the verb naku in "Nichiei Gion-Gitaigo katsuyou Jiten". The purpose of this study are to examine the form of onomatopoeia in the verb naku, and to analyze the meaning of onomatopoeia in the verb naku. The method used is a descriptive qualitative. The data collection used documentation techniques and note-taking techniques. The collected data are analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that 13 onomatopoeia data were found in the verb naku which are divided into three (3) onomatopoeia forms, namely the form of sound repetition as many as 6 words, the form of sound repetition + sound elongation as many as 4 words, and the form of sound elongation + sound escalation as many as 3 words. The meanings contained are to bawl, to blubber, to cry loudly, to cry bitterly, to sob, to pule, to whimper, to cry noisily, to howl, and to cry one’s heart out.
